Lutheran Medical Group in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a board-certified Cardiac Transplantation surgeon to work in conjunction with the Program/Surgical Director on the clinical, operational and research activities of a newly reactivated transplant program. Ideal candidates will be proficient in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery with advanced expertise in heart transplantation, mechanical assist devices and ECMO. A long-term vision and support from the health system support the longevity of the heart transplant program, which works in conjunction with an existing extensive advanced heart failure program consisting of surgeons, advanced heart failure physicians, APP’s, VAD and transplant coordinators.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or its foreign equivalent

• Qualify as a “Primary” or “Additional” Heart Transplant Surgeon under current OPTN Bylaws (OPTN bylaws – Appendix H, Section H.2)

• Five (5) years post-fellowship heart transplant experience

• Qualify for an unrestricted medical license in the state of Indiana and medical staff membership within the hospital

• Heart transplant program growth and outreach experience preferred
